An outstanding example of this popular Civil War date which saw a mintage of just 500 proofs. The strike is exceptionally bold and produced ultra deep mirrored field that adds a strong contrast to the heavily frosted design features. The obverse is mostly brilliant with a halo of iridescent gold at the rim. The reverse has a white center with a stunning concentric toning pattern of gold, blue and russet at the border. Wonderful quality and super eye appeal!
